Unicorn Artists

Unicorn artists may tap into the imagery of this mythological creature in serious as well as tongue-in-cheek fashions. Generally, fine art schools and scenes will look down on fantasy art which incorporates such creatures. Of course, this can make the subject matter a fun and dangerous artistic target.

Modern unicorn artists may use the imagery in a kitsch fashion. Kitsch art highlights tastes which are considered to be artistically naïve. Subjects or methods which would otherwise be considered corny are instead given an ironic form of appreciation.

Unicorn artists of older days did not have to deal with high art criticism. In fact, the unicorn was a religious symbol during medieval times. It has stood as a symbol of raw nature as well as Jesus Christ in Catholicism.
